Cabrillo Music Theatre is the Resident Musical Production Company to the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, the largest theatre between Los Angeles and San Francisco. We produce our shows exclusively for the Kavli Theatre. We are not a tour. For over three decades, Cabrillo has been enriching the cultural life of Southern California by providing an extraordinary performing arts experience through live musical theatre for the community and local region. It is our mission to introduce the musical theatre experience directly to the socially, culturally, and economically diverse and underserved populations in Southern California. Each year we fill the magnificent 1,800 seat Fred Kavli Theatre with over 60,000 patrons of the arts. Our OUTREACH programs have served 16,000 underserved children, in need seniors, and active military troops. Cabrillo is a volunteer based non-profit theatre company presenting professional caliber theatre.
Cabrillo Music Theatre has been privileged to become the most recognized Southern California theatre company in 2008. Cabrillo won six (6) Ovation "Tony" Awards, the most of any theatre this year. Cabrillo was also awarded the 2008 Daily News, Readers Choice "Best of LA" Award for Live Stage Productions. Cabrillo’s Adopt-A-School program and OUTREACH efforts have been recognized for two consecutive years by the Conejo-Las Virgenes Future Foundation’s "CLvFFie" Community Service Award and has received commendations from the California State Senate and State Assembly. Carole W. Nussbaum, President and Chief Executive Officer, received the prestigious Commanding Officer’s Coin from the United States Navy for her leadership and groundbreaking work with Cabrillo’s OUTREACH program, Project Entertainment Troops.
